Wyoming Firearms Academy offers a variety of classes in firearm safety and weapons handling. Professional instruction ensures quality training in the following defensive weapons courses:
Concealed Carry Permit/Personal DefenseClass (CCW)This is the basic CCW course. It is designed to inform the student as to criminal and civil liability issues relative to having a CCW permit and carrying a weapon. You will learn revolver and semi-auto pistol basics with a constant, very strong emphasis on safety. Basic marksmanship topics such as grip, sight alignment, sight picture, stance, trigger press, and follow-through are used to build your handgun foundation. Handgun selection, holster and belt options, and proper concealment options are discussed and demonstrated. This class is very interactive with plenty of time allocated for Q & A's. You will then proceed to loading/reloading techniques, and shooting to demonstrate a basic proficiency with your handgun system. Most importantly, you will learn to live by 3 key terms used for a defensive mindset- Awareness, Avoidance, and De-escalation. This course is comprised of 6 hours of classroom lecture and 2 hours of range time. You will shoot approximately 50 rounds. $115.00
Handgun 1-Handgun 1 incorporates what is learned in CCW and takes you to an advanced level of proficiency. This defensive pistol course teaches you how to safely and effectively own, use, and maintain a handgun. Under demonstration, lecture, range procedure, and simulation drills you will learn the proper techniques and principles of defensive handgun for both home defense as well as on the street applications. If you're serious about your investment in training, this is the course for you. This course will give you the needed confidence and competence with a handgun. The course is 16 hours of range time. You will shoot 800/1000 rounds. $265.00
Handgun 2-This defensive pistol course begins where Handgun 1 leaves off. You will begin by refreshing your skills learned in Handgun 1 and then progress into more advanced techniques including movement, barricades, cover and concealment, flashlight techniques, introduction to ground fighting, introduction to incapacitation/injury drills, and vehicle defense scenarios. This course is 16 hours of range time. You will shoot approximately 1000 rounds. $265.00
Defensive Shotgun-This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of defense and marksmanship with this very effective weapons system. The course covers shotgun safety, mechanics and operation, loading, reloading, as well as continuity of fire ( malfunction clearance). Students will progress to movement, various shooting positions, select slug, cover and concealment. This course is 8 hours of range time. Ammo requirement is 125 birdshot, 50 rounds buckshot, 50 rounds slugs, and 50 rounds handgun ammo. $180.00
Urban Rifle-This course introduces students to the fundamentals of defense and marksmanship with the very effective AR-15 carbine. Students will learn to safely and effectively shoot from various firing positions, incorporate movement, learn loading, reloading and continuity of fire techniques as well as address multiple threats and no-shoot targets. This course is 16 hours of range time. You will shoot approximately 1000 rounds and 200 rounds handgun. $265.00
Women's Handgun 1 Course-This course will teach you how to choose the right handgun, ammunition, holster or carry system, while focusing on the safety aspects of owning and shooting a handgun. Cleaning and maintenance is taught in detail. This class is a natural progression following the CCW/Personal Defense Class. You will apply the basic techniques and principles such as grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture and trigger control which will lead to not only good marksmanship but especially to your confidence in owning and using a defensive handgun. Movement, support hand, and positional shooting are incorporated into your training. This class is comprised of 8 hours of range time. You will shoot approximately 250 rounds. $160.00
